Software Requirements for SQL Server 2014

SQL Server 2014 has the following software
requirements.
 Operating System: The required operating
system depends on the edition of SQL Server
being installed:

• SQL Server 2014 Enterprise Edition and SQL Server Business Intelligence Edition can be installed on the Web, Standard, Enterprise, and Datacenter editions of Windows Server 2008 SP2, Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1, Windows Server 2012, and Windows server 2012 R2.
• Other editions of SQL Server can be installed on these server operating systems, and also the Professional, Enterprise, and Ultimate editions of Windows 7 SP1, Windows 8, and Windows 8.1.
• SQL Server can also be installed in Server Core mode of Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 20012, and Windows Server 2012 R2.

 Microsoft .NET:

• Microsoft .NET 3.5 SP1 is required for the Database Engine, Reporting Services, Master Data Services, Data Quality Services, Replication, and SQL Server Management Studio. This prerequisite is not installed by SQL Server Setup.
• Microsoft .NET 4.0 is required for all SQL Server 2014 components. This prerequisite is installed by SQL Server Setup if required, except when installing SQL Server Express on a Server Core operating system.

 Windows PowerShell: Windows PowerShell 2.0 is required for the Database Engine and SQL Server Management Studio. This prerequisite is not installed by SQL Server Setup.
